JULY 2008 MESSAGE FROM
THE COMMANDANT
My fellow Marines,
The annual Department convention was a huge success. I want to
take a moment to thank everyone who lent a hand to put this convention
together, but I especially want to thank Herb Robb for his tireless
care as chairman of the event. There was one minor glitch; the
power went out all over the hotel just as dinner was being served
on Saturday night. The hotel banquet manager came to us and said
that our banquet room was the only place in the hotel that still
had power and the power would never go out for the Marines.
Those of you who attended sure had a good time and those who
couldn't make it this year, be sure to put it on your calendar
for next year. It’s a great time to get together with Marines
from all over the state.
We are making plans for our annual detachment picnic; the details
are included in this newsletter. Hopefully the heat wave will
be over by then, however, we will have a good time anyway.
